biomechanics and neurophysiology of the body via correction of spinal
subluxations which are alterations of the normal dynamics, anatomical or
physiological relationships of contiguous articular structures.
Cox Flexion Distraction Technique
Benefits: A low force technique used to centralize the nucleus pulposus
inside the disc in order to relieve spinal nerve irritation caused by
swelling, increase the intervertebral disc height, restore vertebral
joints to their physiological relationships of motion, and improve
posture and movement while relieving pain, improving functions, and
creating a state of well-being.
Physiologic Rehabilitative Therapeutics
LASER THERAPY
Vectra® Genisys Laser is the latest addition to the award winning
Vectra® Genisys family of therapy systems, providing True Laser Light
Therapy, the latest high demand therapeutic modality of today's
clinician.
What is Laser Therapy? An advanced technology that delivers specific wavelengths of light to treat painful and debilitating conditions by using a 9 diode cluster applicator directly on the skin.
How Does It Work? Light energy enters the damaged cells and stimulates inter-cellular activity. This reduces pain in the area and speeds recovery of the damaged cells. Once the cells recover, the healing process is completed.
What Can I Expect During A Treatment? Laser Therapy is a painless treatment that usually lasts several minutes. Patients may experience a comfortable sensation at the point of application.
What Can I Expect After A Treatment? Most patients see positive results in 1-3 treatments. The swelling is greatly reduced and there is a rapid relief of pain. Acute conditions usually subside quickly, typically within one or more set of treatments. Chronic conditions can be controlled with regular treatments.
The following conditions have been successfully treated:- Back & joint pain
- Musculoskeletal disorders
- Tendonitis and ligament injuries
- General pain
- Soft tissue injuries

INTERFERENTIAL CURRENT THERAPY
A medium frequency wave modality that is used to deliver a specific
amount of energy for acute, sub-acute, and chronic phases of treatment
for reduction of pain, inflammation, swelling, in soft tissues and for
promotion of healing by applying electrodes directly to the skin .
CERVICAL TRACTION THERAPY Cervical traction is designed to provide safe and effective traction (i.e. stretching) to the neck, and is a proven alternative to surgery for some patients. Dr. Long utilizes the Saunders Cervical Traction Device which has an innovative design for clinical traction and promotes consistency of treatment.
Depending upon the advice of your chiropractor, cervical traction can be used to treat conditions such as osteoarthritis, nerve root compression (i.e. nerve impingement), herniated discs, joint stiffness, muscle tightness, headaches, and assisting to restore normal curvature of the neck. Cervical traction will be contraindicated in treatment of acute or traumatic injury, rheumatoid arthritis, spinal instability, spinal cord compression, fracture, malignancy, infections & inflammatory diseases, and any other conditions that may be made worse by movement.
CRYOTHERAPY
Cold packs or ice massage that is applied to local or generalized areas
of the body for reduction of pain, prevention of additional
post-traumatic inflammation & swelling, and for promotion of
healing.
VIBRATORY THERAPY Jeanie
Rub Massager, a hand-held vibratory device, with a premium cushioned
vinyl pad that is used to provide a comfortable, soothing, oscillating
massage action to local or generalized areas of the body to safely relax
muscles, reduce stress and stimulate circulation for all body types and
sizes. This massage device does not use the jabbing or pounding motions
found in other massagers.
SINUS/LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE TECHNIQUE:
A special stroking technique applied to local sinuses & lymphatic
areas to increase circulation, elimination and healing potential for the
promotion of sinus and lymphatic drainage.
MASSAGE THERAPY:
Massage therapy offers a natural, conservative treatment approach that relieves musculoskeletal pain for many patients. Dr. Long is trained in utilizing a specific massage technique called NIMMO that is tailored to meet the patient's condition and injury:
NIMMO Technique - A highly specialized form of massage discovered by Raymond L. Nimmo, D.C. The main focus is finding and putting pressure on tight & spastic muscles and specific trigger points in the body which are highly dense areas of skeletal muscle, with the end goal of releasing toxins in hyper-irritated areas in the soft tissues. Trigger points can be caused by stress, bad posture, dehydration, improper diet or an injury causing muscles to tighten or spasm. The benefits of massage therapy not only relieve muscle pain & spasms.
More specifically, Dr. Long will find the trigger points in your muscles by feeling your muscles for hard knots or protrusions. It takes great skill and expertise to know exactly how to locate these areas. Once the trigger points are found, she will not only apply a high degree of focused light pressure on these areas and will hold in an effort to "break up" these knots and release any built up toxins, but she will also apply relaxing, generalized long strokes to the soft tissues to help increase blood circulation, reduce swelling, and aid in recovery and range of motion. The patient may feel a slight pain during the massage process, but the end result is amazing with the patient going home feeling much more relaxed with less pain.

Exercises/Stretching
Dr. Long encourages and recommends her patients to stretch & exercise in order to relieve stress, spasm and painful muscles, and to actively restore their organs, muscles, joints and function to a healthier state or to maintain health. She teaches her patients special "blueprint" exercises to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of their own home and can improve the effectiveness of their spinal correction. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Remember that specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.
Lifestyle Advice
Dr. Long often finds it helpful to "coach" her patients on certain activities they should avoid or do differently to avoid aggravating their particular health challenge. Her goal is to help every patient achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle full of the activities they enjoy most. She recognizes that each patient is a whole person, and wants to help them reach true health and wellness which is a collaborative effort between a professional and patients.
Nutritional Counseling
We provide recommendations on nutrition and healthy food choices to enhance our patient´s return to optimal health.
Spinal & Postural Screenings
Posture and spinal screenings can reveal important health information and unlock the door to improved health and well-being for adults & children. Dr. Long encourages parents to bring in their children for a spinal checkup so that early detection of spinal issues may be addressed and corrected for optimal future health and wellness.
