Cold Laser Therapy, also known as Low Level Laser Therapy, is a treatment that utilizes specific wavelengths of light to interact with tissue and is known to accelerate the healing process of a variety of clinical conditions. By definition, this type of therapy uses radiation intensities that induce minimal temperature elevation (not more than 0.1 to 0.5 degrees celsius), if any. Low-energy lasers have been promoted as an effective way to produce pain relief.

Dr. Long has invested & utilized a Class IV LightForce Low Level Laser unit to assist her in effectively treating her patients safely and pain-free, and because low level laser therapy is the most researched physiological rehabilitative therapeutic modality.  Below are some examples of conditions she is able to treat:

  • Acute and chronic pain
  • Finger pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Ligament sprain
  • Muscle strain
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Tendonitis
  • Arthritis
  • Tennis elbow
  • Back pain
  • Sinusitis
  • Bursitis (upper or lower extremities, etc.)
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Wound healing
  • Post-surgical spinal conditions (a safe approach to treatment even when metal or non-metal hardware is involved)

Low level lasers are handheld devices, and Dr. Long has several special attachment options to choose from such as a Patented Laser-Massage Roller Ball, and (4) contact and non-contact attachments.  As a safety precaution, all patients will be required to wear Laser Safety Eyewear or Re-useable P-shield Eyewear to be worn while laser is in use.  The laser is placed directly over the injured area for 30 seconds to several minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated and the dose provided by the LightForce laser unit.

Low level laser therapy is one option among a variety of treatment approaches that can potentially alleviate pain symptoms without the use of surgery or drugs.
